A Poem For A Friend

I have tasted darknessDeep, rich, and wideIt has swallowed me up from the insideSo I know the deep abyssBut darkness is really nothingJust a lack of lightOne little candle can overcome itSo fragile is its non-lifeSo light now come to meHelp me see that reason has not diedGravity still works and the laws of reality abideSo the sun will come and the night fadeSo in the darkness I will trust in lightI will hope during the hopeless timesDarkness cannot prevailLight will come.
