Prayer for Today

[Luk 19:41-44 NLT] 41 But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep. 42 "How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from your eyes. 43 Before long your enemies will build ramparts against your walls and encircle you and close in on you from every side. 44 They will crush you into the ground, and your children with you. Your enemies will not leave a single stone in place, because you did not accept your opportunity for salvation."

[Jas 4:9-10 NLT] 9 Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

LORD who is long suffering and grieving over the abusive transgressions that multiply daily give us YOUR grief.

Open our hearts to share in YOUR redemptive pain.

LORD Jesus give us YOUR tears today!

Help us hate our sin because it hurts YOUR heart, our heart, and the hearts of all we touch.

Take away from us the blindness that will minimize our sin and maximize the shortcomings of the others in our lives.

Allow us to be ready to remove the log from our own eye before we even think about the speck in the other person’s eye.

[Jas 4:11-12 NLT] 11 Don't speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God's law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you. 12 God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?

[Luk 9:55-56 NKJV] 55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 "For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save [them]." And they went to another village.

[Luk 19:10 NLT] 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost."

LORD, show me my hidden faults!

Destroy in us a sense of self-righteousness, pride, condemnation of others, and confessing the transgression of others in our condescending ungodly gossip.

Jesus Immanuel, Allow us to confess our sins, focus on YOUR payment for those sins, despise those sins for they put YOU on the cross, stop trusting in these sins to save us from unhappiness, in gratitude now allow us to turn from those sins and seek first YOUR righteousness and kingdom in those areas of our life where we have not followed YOU but our own selfish desires, adopted the unbelieving views of our culture, and been deceived by the devil.

LORD of pure truth, Take away all deception from us!

For YOUR glory now save us from bearing only little fruit and do whatever it will take to make us an abundant fruitful branch overflowing with YOUR righteous love!

[2Co 7:1 NASB20] 1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let's cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Thank YOU LORD, for promising to forgive us, declare us righteous, adopt us, set us aside to a special relationship of love with YOU, fill us with YOUR SPIRIT, make us the temple of the Holy Spirit, and making us YOUR body manifested on the earth in this generation to bring YOUR healing hope into these troubled times.

Great Savior, Burn out of us the moral contamination from our culture and make us effective in being YOUR light and YOUR salt.

Allow us in love present YOUR gospel, YOUR truth, and live in a manner that overflows into those around us YOUR grace.

Awaken the unbelievers to believe in YOU with true faith and become true disciples!

Make us YOUR true disciples!

Bring comfort to the mourning, the broken, the wounded, the weak, the wandering and bring to them healing, hope, and truth.

Turn the wicked from their wickedness.

Thank YOU for welcoming us as YOUR children by YOUR wild grace and love.

Make us wild agents of YOUR grace to others!

YOU are wonderful and worthy of our deepest appreciation, awe, and trust. YOU are great, good, and gracious beyond all measure.

Help me see YOU more clearly, that I may love YOU more dearly, and follow YOU more nearly this day!

Amen
