Thoughts About Judging Others
1“Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2“For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3“Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4“Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5“You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
19This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; 20for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.
11Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. 12There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor?

I. There is a real danger in not listening carefully, not thinking before we speak, and in anger talk to others about how others have failed, disappointed, or sinned.
II. We fail most of the time to do a self examination first and show ourselves much more grace than we give to others. If we were to rebuke another person we must do it directly and in a humble attitude seeing ourselves as worst sinners than the person we are rebuking.
III. We are not allowed to judge the motives and attitudes of others because these are not known to us. If we prayed for people as much as we gossip about people there would be a revival. Everything we say must be motivated by love and seasoned with grace. We must be thoughtful and prayerful when we speak.
Gossip is never allowed, it does not matter if it is true, if you are talking to others about the faults of others to get others to judge them as wrong, this is gossip. It is not God's will, led by the Spirit, and is wrong.
