Historical Reflection on Singleness
ØMost marriages in history were arranged marriages and therefore singleness was rare.   Singleness many times came for the first time at the death of the spouse. ØCourting was a type of half/way between arranged marriages and still demanded the approval of parents. Ø55% of marriages today globally are arranged marriages (4% divorce compared with 40% for marriages based on dating) ØDating as we know it there began in the “Roaring Twenties” and is still a social experiment.  Ø31% are single, 7% are living together Ø

on Singleness

[Mat 19:11-12 NASB20] 11 But He said to them, "Not all men [can] accept this statement, but [only] those to whom it has been given. 12 "For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by people; and there are [also] eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who is able to accept [this,] let him accept [it.]"

Paul’s Teaching

One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord;
