Prayer For Today

[Mat 5:3-12 NLT] 3 "God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

LORD, bless us to see that we are weak, dependent, and can nothing without YOU.

4 God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Great Divine source of all love, bless us with being able to mourn and weep over our lack of love for YOU and others.

Great Comforter, bless those who have lost loved ones, have loved ones in the hospital, lost their property, lost their civil rights, lost their peace of mind, and lost their jobs.

5 God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.

Great Father in heaven, King of the Universe, bless us by allowing us to abandon our self-righteous, thinking we are better and brighter than everyone else and recognizing how small and needy we are every moment. Tear down the stronghold of pride in our lives.

6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.

Righteous and fair judge and Creator of all the earth, Bless us by making us never satisfied with the personal righteousness we have or the present level of justice in society but always striving to more and more have YOUR will done on earth as in heaven in every aspect of our personal and public lives. Help us do this without becoming self-righteous as we seek righteousness from YOU.

7 God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Compassionate and merciful Savior, bless us by allowing us to share the mercy YOU showed on us by forgiving our sins through YOUR suffering on the cross for our sins, to every other person in our lives. Make us overflow with mercy for everyone in our lives, even our enemies.

8 God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.

HOLY ONE, bless us with being single minded in our faith in YOU and save us from being double minded. Purify us of making idols of ourselves, others, objects, and objectives. Purify us of pornography, wrong passions, sexual perversions, and every pollution of our souls.

9 God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.

Eternal King of peace, bless us by making us work for right relationships between everyone in our lives, in the church, and in society at large. Teach us how to become effective peacemakers.

10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

Great divine KING of all history who directs all things towards ultimate good, bless us with the courage to stand for what is right even when it costs us finances, freedom, family, and friends.

11 "God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. 12 Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

HERO of heaven, now bless us by filling us with YOUR boldness and let us love YOU LORD Jesus, more and more. Let us love YOU, more than our personal safety and security. Make us powerful witnesses of YOUR sacrificial death, victorious resurrection, and glorious return to manifest YOUR KINGDOM on earth as in heaven so that all the world may know.

Provide help and hope to those who even at this moment are being persecuted for YOU in many nations around the world. Pour out YOUR SPIRIT upon them and let their persecutors become their converts as they see YOUR grace flow from those they imprison, torture and kill.

Great Eternal source of all blessing, now at these desperate hours, bless us abundantly for we need YOU to revive us, renew us, restore us, and reform us. Raise up YOUR Church as YOUR body in these times of crisis.

Help us be YOUR answer to the critical crisis of our times.

Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy

Amen
