Prayer For Today
[Jas 5:13-18 NLT] 13 Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. 14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. 16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. 17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! 18 Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.
LORD of mercy, grace, long suffering, and empathy look upon the hardships we are now suffering and provide for us enduring strength.
Help Creator/Redeemer the sick with Covid to know that YOU are with them, that this illness cannot separate them from YOUR love, that YOU care for them in their suffering, even suffering with them as they suffer, understanding their fears, providing for them YOUR presence and peace. LORD, grant doctors’ wisdom and skill while we acknowledge that all their gifts of healing are YOUR gifts of healing through them.
Heal Father in heaven of compassion the broken hearted who mourn the loss of loved ones. YOU who understand the pain of loss better than anyone else, now meet these whose worlds have suffered train wreck and help them know that YOU weep with those who weep.
Help living and resurrected LORD Jesus the bewildered, the doubting, and the confused. As YOU had patience with doubting Thomas help us as we confess “Lord I believe, help my unbelief.” Grant the gift of Faith through YOUR WORD and SPIRIT. Holy Spirit come and restore our faith.
Remember now the children who were raised in Sunday Schools and claim now to not even believe that YOU exist and live as totally secular people in a totally secular world following a totally secular way of life. They seem to have no acknowledgment of YOU or fear of YOU. So invade this fortress of secularism with experiences that they cannot explain except by YOU should those be supernatural or something as natural as a baby’s smile. Disturb their apparent unbelieving peace and put in them doubts of their doubts. HOLY SPIRIT now convict of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Reach those we know we cannot reach.
LORD, help compromised believers who know YOU but live lifestyles, have relationships, and patterns of conduct that they know is not YOUR will but they have believed the lie that they must sin to win in their lives and profess one thing and live another. Tear down the stronghold that causes them to doubt that YOUR ways are better ways. Let them be willing to “lose” if that is what it means to follow YOU. Give them the courage to take up their cross. The relationships. fears, and struggles which they have idolized and loved more then YOU let them see these as traps for their hearts and souls. Give to them the gift of true transforming and real repentance. Give to them a hatred of their sins.
Help the seeking find today. Those who are reading YOUR WORD for the first time. Finding in it treasures and new revelations. Give the seeking true knowledge and then use this true knowledge to lead to true faith.
LORD who can give the power to endure persecution, continue to uphold the 260 million around the world who daily suffer, die, are tortured, suffer beating, threats, are raped, and sold into slavery because of their claiming YOU LORD as their Savior and King. Their testimony, rings loud in the world and bears fruit in the lands where they suffer and serve. But the weight of their sorrows is so great, so please convert or cripple those who persecute them. Provide some relief in their struggles and bring about some freedom for them to live for YOU without fear. LORD, give them strength today and hope.
Open the hearts of our leaders and let them have new insights. Give to them a true fear of YOU and of the day of judgment. As they look in the mirror today take from them self assured pride and confidence. Humble them as YOU humbled the leaders of Nineveh and have them ask themselves the questions which they have sworn they will never ask themselves. Let them doubt themselves and the convictions they have most strongly upheld. Bring about an impossible change of mind and heart.
Raise up a new generation of leaders of competence, character, and compassion. We need Daniels and Josephs.
Make YOUR people a house of prayer for all nations. Put in us humility. Give us a hunger and thirst for YOUR FACE. Help us see our evil ways and turn from these evil ways. Change us and purify us as never before. LORD, in YOUR just judgment remember mercy.
End the Covid plague. Remember we are but dust. Take this away in a supernatural way so that all the world will have to wonder how it happened. Act NOW! Have mercy NOW!
